Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21, 1983 in Worthington Ohio, is an American actress. She is famous for her roles as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills respectively in ABC's Lost TV show. Maggie Grace is originally from Worthington located in Ohio dropped out of high school in order to move to Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. While struggling financially she landed her first acting gig as Rachel's Room's main character the online video series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. In 2002 she was nominated to receive an Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford, the character in Lost from 2004 until 2005 was selected for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was dropped from the series in the year 2005, to take on the role of a greater part in movies, and had a role alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. The actress was on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) and opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in the year 2008. A member of the Gyllenhaal clan, she is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs as well as the elder sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first appearances were in films starring her father as an adolescent. Along with her brother, she appeared in Donnie Darko (2000). The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performances as the lead in Secretary (2002 the erotic romance drama) as well as Sherrybaby (606) Both of which earned their Golden Globe Award nods. She gained wider recognition after playing Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008) due to the success of several commercials she appeared in during 2006. She was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress due to her part as Rachel Dawes in Crazy Heart, (2009). The following years, she starred in comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. Other roles she has played included Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013, action thriller), musicians in Frank (2014 and drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) in addition to her role as the Kindergarten Teacher. Gyllenhaal began her professional career as screenwriter, director and writer in the year 2021, when she directed and wrote her psychological horror film The Lost Daughter. The film received the award for Best Screenplay in The Venice International Film Festival, and was later nominated by The Academy Award. Academy Award.
